2021 Subaru Outback vs 2020 Subaru Outback

Serving New Bern, NC

The Subaru Outback has been the wagon that many drivers have preferred over the last few decades. In 2020, the Outback was boldly improved with the introduction of its sixth generation. However, these exciting updates did not keep Subaru from continuing to enhance the Outback. Between the 2020 and 2021 model years, this wagon displays numerous improvements throughout all seven trim levels.

The 2020 and 2021 models have identical performance capabilities. The lower four trim levels for both model years draw 182 horsepower from a 2.5-liter Boxer engine. In the top trim levels, the Outback receives 260 horsepower from a 2.4-liter turbo Boxer engine. Across the seven trims for 2020 and 2021, the Outback’s capabilities are boosted by features like vehicle dynamics, hill descent control, and symmetrical all-wheel drive.

The primary difference that you will find between the exteriors of the 2020 and 2021 Outback versions is in their headlights. All of the 2021 trim levels now have LED adaptive headlights for the first time. Some trims are now available with a power moonroof and 18-inch wheels with a black finish in 2021. The other features and design elements for the 2020 Outback and its 2021 counterparts are unchanged. This model comes with 9 inches of ground clearance, raised roof rails, fog lamps, and a few additional items.

Modest yet significant updates are also found in the Outback’s line of features. Specifically, all 2021 Outback trim levels have a belt reminder in both rows and a rear seat occupant sensor. Features included in both model years include an auto climate control system with two zones, an 11.6-inch color display screen, StarLink, adaptive cruise control, and HomeLink.
