The latest Subaru models are equipped with a horizontally opposed engine block, which is available with a turbocharger or naturally aspirated induction system. Engineered according to the trusted BOXER platform, the powertrain usually includes four cylinders. Under the hood, a new Subaru car has other exclusive mechanical hardware, such as a continuously variable transmission with the Lineartronic label. Select models have the Adaptive Control and Manual Mode in this patented CVT system. Most Subaru vehicles also come standard with the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, which creates ideal torque ratios in the front and rear wheels. Developed exclusively by the Japanese automaker, the X-MODE enhances overall performance in normal and challenging driving conditions. Paired with the Symmetrical AWD, this advanced mode reduces the potential for slipping and skidding. Most models also boast the Active Torque Vectoring, which improves steering and braking in hazardous conditions. Select Subaru crossover SUVs are available with the Trailer Stability Assist, which controls the braking in each wheel. Some of the brand's most powerful crossover SUVs, such as the spacious Ascent, can tow up to 5,000 pounds.

Engineered for America's modern roads, the EyeSight Driver Assist is standard or optional in most Subaru trims. By monitoring the surrounding traffic, this proprietary technology significantly reduces your risk of getting into an accident. For example, the Automatic Pre-Collision Braking generates maximum stopping power in emergencies. Swerving, swaying, and other similar maneuvers on the freeway will be detected and adjusted by the Lane Keeping Assist. Some Subaru models also have driving aids for navigating tight spaces in urban areas. For example, the Reverse Automatic Braking is smoothly synced with the Lineartronic CVT. The Rear Vision Camera and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert make you more aware of potential obstacles around your Subaru. Some premium models even offer the Front-View Monitor with a 180-degree camera. With supplemental help from the DriverFocus technology, you'll handle the steering wheel with more confidence than ever before. This proprietary system includes a color monitor that's integrated into the center stack. Most Subaru trims also offer an entire suite of safety and security features from the STARLINK platform.
